Lions and Dinos and Monkeys! Oh my!

Did you all have a fabulous Valentine's Day? I hope so. My parents were in town for the long weekend, so that made it an extra special day - and a very busy weekend! Here are the cards I made for my husband and kids. These are all for guys - so there's nothing frilly about these cards! But it just goes to show you how you can take just about any stamp set and make it work for any occasion. A touch of red, a heart here and there, and suddenly dinosaurs and lions are gushing with love. :)

This Sock monkey card was for my 14 year old stepson. Anyone with a teenage son can appreciate how hard it is to make a card with the right balance between not too cute, not too grown-up, not too silly, not too frilly. I think he liked it - at least he wasn't frowning when he grunted a thanks at me.

Who knew dinosaurs could be so warm and fuzzy? My 6 year old son is a dinosaur freak, so you'll probably see lots of dinosaur cards on my blog. He thought it was pretty cool!

My youngest loves Jungle Animals. He got a big kick from this card. It's a little hard to see in the picture, but the lion's head is popped up. I stamped the lion 3 times - twice in More Mustard and once in Really Rust. I layered the More Mustard face onto the Really Rust head and then popped it up with a Dimentional on the second More Mustard body. I also used the tree tops from Prehistoric Pals for the ground cover. I tuned it upside down so the leaves were pointing up, and stamped it in Creamy Caramel. It looks exactly like the rugged plains, right?

Last, but certainly not least is this simple gem for my husband. He's a no fuss, no frills kind of guy. Direct and to the point is his style. The inside of the card says "Hey. Love ya. Me." Can't get much more direct than that!
